The Department of Health and Human Service, Public Health services is monitoring concerns affecting diversions to the Canal and River.
Out of an abundance of caution, please avoid contact with the water and shoreline in impacted areas. Children and pets should be kept away and not allowed access to or drink from the water. If exposure should occur, wash hands and skin with soap and clean water. For pets, rinse pet paws and fur thoroughly.
Anyone experiencing vomiting, diarrhea, rash, or irritation or just feeling sick, should immediately contact your healthcare provider. You may also contact Disease Control for questions, 240.777.1755. Pet owners should also contact a veterinarian if exposed pets become ill as soon as possible.
