Children in foster care are those who have been removed from their homes due to
some form of abuse or neglect that posed a significant risk to their safety. The children are from Montgomery County and they come from a variety of social and economic backgrounds, and from every race, religion and nationality. Their ages range from infancy to young adult. These children are not orphans and have experienced significant trauma. Foster parents are trusted to keep children safe while Child Welfare Services works with the biological parents to put services and a plan in place so that children will be safe upon reunification. Only if this plan cannot be achieved is there a possibility of adoption.
