The Neighborhood Watch Program is a community partnership crime prevention program in which volunteers serve as the eyes and ears of the community and report suspicious activity to the police. Members of the Neighborhood Watch program do not have any law enforcement responsibility or authority. Police officers conduct all law enforcement actions.

Working together with the police, community members learn how to protect property, increase personal safety and reduce the risk of crime. Members become more alert to unusual or suspicious circumstances, individuals or vehicles. By notifying the police of suspicious activity, this proactive approach can reduce the risk of neighbors becoming victims of crime. When members of the community keep the police informed, the police are able to effectively address crime and safety issues and communities have better protection and safer neighborhoods.
