The Department of Transportation, Division of Highway Services does not offer priority snow removal treatment for doctors or other such professionals. Offering priority plow treatments would take the DOT out of its systematic plow operation and add considerable time to snow removal affecting all residents and commercial entities as well.
The County understands the concerns over mobility during storms; especially given the array of professional responsibilities and obligations that many community members carry. Unfortunately, DOT is unable to offer priority service for physicians and other such professionals given the significant number of these members within the community of more than 1 million residents. In addition, DOT is unable to provide priority plowing for other critical health care workers, high-level government officials, and executives of major enterprises. DOT relies on community members to plan ahead and make emergency transportation arrangements with employers, employees, hospitals, offices or agencies; many of which offer four wheel drive vehicle service.
