Noise levels from a range of activities in Montgomery County are regulated by the County's Noise Ordinance. In some cases, the noise limits for construction activities may be increased with the approval of a Noise Suppression Plan by the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP). Construction activities may create noise up to 85 decibels from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM weekdays if they are operating under a DEP approved Noise Suppression Plan.

For inquiries requiring the response of a DEP investigator, requestors will typically be contacted within 3 days although resolution of the issue may take longer depending on the circumstances of the case.
