If the inspector can access the area where the work is being done, the customer does not need to be present for the inspection. The building construction plans for the project MUST be available for the inspector at the time the inspection occurs. However, the customer may want to be present to answer any questions the inspector may have about the project. If the inspector cannot access the area where the work is being performed or if the plans are not on site, the inspector will fail the inspection.
