Beginning May 4, 2026, the Department of Housing and Community Affairs (DHCA) will begin enforcing re inspection fees in accordance with COMCOR 29.20.02.03. These fees apply only to triennial or otherwise mandated inspections at multifamily properties. They do not apply to complaint-based inspections at multifamily locations or to any inspections of single-family properties. Click on first link below to see how and when fees are assessed.
Historically, the County did not charge these fees because it did not have the platform to assess them. However, DHCA has updated its systems to allow for the enforcement of reinspection fees going forward. Under COMAR 29.20.02.02, property owners will be charged reinspection fees for outstanding violations starting with the third inspection, but only for violations that remained uncorrected after the second inspection.
Landlords may review and pay their reinspection fee balances by logging into the County's licensing database. Click on second link below.
