Apply for office of Home Energy Programs Check Status of New Application or Recertification or for Assistance with Utility Disconnection

The Office of Home Energy Programs (OHEP) administers two programs to provide energy ongoing assistance to Montgomery County residents who meet certain income guidelines. The two programs -for heating and electricity - have a common application that is available on the website by clicking on the link below. The office may also be able to assist customers who have a disconnection notice. Note: a copy of the disconnection notice is helpful to process applications more quickly (processing time varies) and to put a hold on an account.

Housing Opportunities Commission (HOC) recipients (Public Housing or Housing Choice Voucher) must pay a utility expense to be eligible for OHEP programs.

The OHEP programs are a mail in service: an application (with required signature and documentation as listed in the application packet) can be dropped at the office or mailed in.

To obtain an application or drop off a completed application in person, go to the office at: 1301 Piccard Drive, Suite 4200, Rockville, 20850, during regular business hours of Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM. Fax: 240.777.4099. A drop box is located on the north entrance of the building.

For the eligibility criteria for the Office of Home Energy Programs, and how to apply, please see links in the web site listed. For utility facts and resources, see the link below for Pepco.
