SmarTrip cards are available for purchase at Montgomery County Division of Treasury at 27 Courthouse Square, Suite 200, Rockville, MD (M-F from 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM) and TRiPS Commuter stores located 8404 Colesville Road, Level 2 of the Paul Sarbanes Transit Center, Silver Spring (M-F 6:00 AM - 6:00 PM and Saturday and Sunday 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM). Riders may also load fare value on a SmarTrip card using the bus farebox or online.

Purchasing a SmarTrip card is easy and can be completed online using Visa, Mastercard or Discover. A SmarTrip card can also be purchased at all Metrorail stations or at Metro sales offices, retail outlets such as specific CVS and Giant stores and commuter stores. A reduced fare SmarTrip card is available for senior citizens and people with disabilities. To purchase a Senior SmarTrip card, proof of age must be provided. People with disabilities must have a valid Metro Disability ID card to purchase the reduced fare SmarTrip card."
