Johns Hopkins No Longer Participating in UHC's Network

Effective August 25, 2025, Johns Hopkins hospitals, facilities, and physicians are out-of-network for MCG UnitedHealthcare (UHC) participants. For questions about this change or help finding a new in-network provider, members can call the number on the back of their UHC ID card. Members in active or ongoing treatment for a serious or complex condition with a Johns Hopkins provider may be eligible for continuity of care. Continuity of care allows people to continue accessing care with their provider at in-network rates for a limited period of time after the provider leaves the network. Examples of conditions that may qualify for continuity of care are people in active treatment for cancer or women who are pregnant. Applications for continuity of care must be submitted to UHC within 30 days of August 25, 2025. UHC members who are considering applying for continuity of care should act quickly and call the number on the back of their UHC ID card for more information regarding eligibility and how to apply. Retirees who would like to change medical carriers must submit online enrollment forms by the 10th of the month to be effective the following month. Employees who would like to change medical carriers must wait until annual Open Enrollment this fall, with any new coverage taking effect in January 2026. UHC can be reached at 1.800.638.0014.
