HHS Voter Registration

The National Voter Registration Act (NVRA) requires that public assistance offices provide voter registration services with each public assistance application, recertification and change of address in connection with benefits obtained at the Department of Health and Human Services. This does not apply to the public at large, but to people making an application; recertifying or changing an address at HHS. For HHS customers, they can ask for a voter registration at one of the following offices: 1401 Rockville Pike, 1st Floor, South, Rockville; 2000 Dennis Avenue, Silver Spring; 8630 Fenton Street, Silver Spring; Germantown Regional Health Center or Income Supports (located at same office); 12900 Middlebrook Road, Germantown; 8818 Georgia Avenue, Silver Spring; 1301 Piccard Drive, Rockville. Workers at these offices are trained to ask HHS customers if they would like an application to vote, and offer assistance. If a customer completes a voter registration application at the HHS office, the worker will forward it to the local Board of Elections for processing. The same time frame of the Board of Elections will apply.
