Head Start Program

Head Start is a program offered through Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS). The Prekindergarten/Head Start program serves low-income families with children who will be four years old by September 1 of each year. Parents may apply for the Head Start Program at the Pre-K/Head Start Administrative Office located at: 4910 Macon Road, Room 143, Rockville, MD 20852. The program is inclusive of children with disabilities. There are limited spaces available in select areas of the County for Head Start income-eligible children who will be three years old by September 1. Registration is ongoing. Registration for the next school year begins in March. Walk-in applications are accepted Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM at Rocking Horse Road Center, 4910 Macon Road, Room 143, Rockville, Maryland 20852. Parents may call and request a specific appointment time if they prefer. Specific documents must be provided in order to be considered for the program, including child's proof of age, proof of family income, and proof of Montgomery County residence; the full list is available on the Montgomery County Public Schools website, see link below.
