Air Conditioning Requirement in a Rental DwellingFind more information from the following link(s):
There is no code requiring air conditioning in a rental unit nor is there a required turn-on date for air conditioning in multi-family apartments. If air conditioning is provided, it must operate properly. See Section 26-9(a)(4) of Chapter 26, Housing and Building and Maintenance Standards on the attached link for the Code reference. If the air conditioning is not operating properly in a rental dwelling, notify the landlord. To file a complaint, please see the topic entitled "HOUSING COMPLAINTS"
For complaints about a lease or security deposit, please see topic: "LANDLORD TENANT (LT) COMPLAINTS, DISPUTES OR ISSUES."
