School Health Services

he basic services provided by School Health Services (SHS) include: first aid/emergency care; medication and treatment administration; case management of students with chronic health conditions; health promotion/education; and linking students to health care providers and other resources (physicals not provided). SHS provides a public health presence in schools to prevent and contain communicable diseases; assure that students are appropriately immunized; and respond to school and community-wide emergencies. Hearing and vision screenings (only) for school age children are provided. Some schools have School Based Health-Wellness Centers.

Medication that is taken by a student must be delivered to the school by the parent/guardian with a medicine label and a health care provider's order. More information and links to school health forms can be found by clicking on link below.
