Metrorail SafeTrack-Surge 16

Metrorail SafeTrack Surge 16 will occur between June 17th through June 25th on a five-mile segment of the Red Line between Shady Grove and Twinbrook. Two stations, Shady Grove and Rockville will be closed with rail service replaced by free shuttle buses running at all times of the day.

Customers who normally use Shady Grove or Rockville are encouraged to consider starting their trip at Twinbrook, White Flint, Glenmont, Wheaton or Forest Glen during the surge. Park & Ride users should go to Twinbrook or Whiteflint to park - NOT Grosvenor. Riders going into DC and normally start at Shady Grove should consider taking the MARC train at one of the Gaithersburg stations.

Free Shuttle Bus Options (Shady Grove - Rockville - Twinbrook): Pick-up locations: Shady Grove: Bus Bay C (west side), Rockville: temporary locations (west side) Southbound: past bus bay F across the crosswalk - Northbound: past bus bay F across the crosswalk on Rockville Pike, and Twinbrook: west side on Chapman Avenue and Halpine Dr. behind the station, next to the parking garage.
