The Medicaid Long Term Care Program (MA-LTC) determines initial and ongoing eligibility for the MA-LTC program for Montgomery County residents living in nursing homes who need assistance in paying for their nursing home cost of care. Certain income and asset criteria must be met, as well as criteria regarding U.S. citizenship and Maryland residency. The Long Term Care Medicaid office will provide an application packet to customers at their request. A customer can go into the office at the 4th floor of 401 Hungerford Drive in Rockville to pick up a packet, or they can be mailed an application packet.
To check the status of an existing application, send a service request. Online users may request an application packet or check the status of an application, by clicking on the Create Service Request button below. Please complete all of the fields in the Contact Information section then scroll down to the bottom of the page and provide a brief description of the request in the Brief Description field.
Customers do not have to be in a nursing home facility in order to apply, however, one of the criteria that must be met before benefits can be granted is that they reside in a facility. The Long Term Care Medicaid office is responsible for explaining the complex federal and state asset, income and other program rules, including spousal impoverishment and asset spend-down rules, in addition to determining eligibility for the program.
