Properties are condemned by DHCA's Housing Code Enforcement office when they are unfit for human habitation or otherwise unsafe to live in. A dwelling unit can be condemned for a variety of reasons including but not limited to: No utilities (electricity, water, gas), lack of egress, unsanitary conditions, other unsafe conditions. DHCA does not purchase or own condemned properties but works with owners to ensure that buildings are repaired, secure from unauthorized entry and the grounds are maintained.
To report a property that may need to be condemned, please see the topic entitled: "HOUSING COMPLAINTS".
