Diabetes Self Management
The African American Health Program (AAHP) offers classes, counseling, and dining clubs to help prevent and manage diabetes. Classes include educational materials, hands-on activities to learn carbohydrate counting and blood glucose monitoring skills. The AAHP class series is accredited by the American Association of Diabetes Educators. One-on-one counseling is available to assist clients with developing individualized treatment, nutrition and exercise plans. Monthly dining clubs also offer a welcoming environment in which to learn the latest information on diabetes management and meet others facing similar health issues. Join new friends for delicious food, good conversation, and fun activities. For further information on how to get connected, visit the website.
