Hospice or Palliative Care and Bereavement Resources

Hospice care is care that focuses on medical and personal comfort for people living with a life limiting illness. Hospice helps patients and families by helping them feel emotionally and spiritually at peace.

Montgomery Hospice helps seriously ill Montgomery County residents who have decided to concentrate on living their lives as fully as possible rather that aggressively fighting a disease. Some of the services offered are: pain and symptom relief; medications; medical equipment and supplies; nursing services available 24/7; assistance with patient personal care and grief workshops/support. See link below for further information, including how to contact, or call: 301.921.4400.

Community Hospice includes Community Hospice of Washington, DC, and Community Hospice of Maryland (a separate organization from Montgomery Hospice), which provides home based hospice. For more information, contact: 1.866.234.7742, or see link below.

Hospice Caring provides non-medical hospice support and bereavement service programs for terminally ill adults and children, with a prognosis of twelve months or less. Services typically include: support and advocacy; companionship and practical care; assistance with household tasks and errands; accompanying ambulatory patients on outings; transportation to doctor and treatment appointments and being a friend and companion. Services are offered without charge. Contact: 301.869.4673 or click on the link below for additional information.
