Hurricane Harvey Support

Montgomery County is providing support to the victims of Hurricane/ Tropical Storm Harvey through the coordinated Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) response. On August 27, MCFRS personnel and supplies from the Maryland Task Force - 1 (MDTF-1), including Swift Water Rescue Boat Teams & HazMat resupply pods were requested and deployed to Texas. Previously, several (MCFRS/MDTF-1) personnel were requested/sent as part of FEMA Incident Management (IMT) and Incident Support Teams (IST).

Montgomery County anticipates additional requests for support through Emergency Management Assistance Compact (EMAC) system over the coming days and weeks. While it is probable that additional County personnel and assets may be deployed, it is critical that the County wait for those requests to arrive rather than self-deploy assets. Self deployment is universally discouraged in the emergency management and public safety system in the United States.

County residents wishing to donate money or goods are strongly encouraged to consider verified disaster relief organizations and funds, such as the American Red Cross. Please click on the link below to be directed to the Red Cross Web page.
