Request for Immediate Smoke Alarm Installation

Montgomery County Fire Rescue Service (FRS) strives to educate residents on the importance of having working smoke alarms in their homes. Homeowners should review the "Montgomery County Residential Smoke Alarm Requirements" document to determine the type of smoke alarm that meets the Code for their home. The FRS DOES NOT install or provide HARD-WIRED SMOKE ALARMS and recommends that an electrician or certified professional replace hard- wire smoke alarms. If a home does not have a working 10-year sealed-in smoke alarm, residents are encouraged to purchase and install them as soon as possible. The department will assist homeowners that are unable to afford or install the sealed-in 10-year long-life battery-operated smoke alarms.
