SMILE Program

The goal of the S.M.I.L.E. (Start More Infants Living Equally) Program is to reduce the number of premature babies and babies with low birth weight, born to African American/Black women in Montgomery County. One must be a Montgomery County resident to be eligible for services, which include: assessment of high risk pregnancies; parenting support; case management and home visiting for mothers and infants; education; support groups; counseling and referrals. Although the program no longer has a loan program for breast pumps, manual breast pumps are available for mothers enrolled in the program, along with breast feeding support.
