At this time the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) does not believe that protective measures are necessary in the U. S. The NRC does not expect any U. S. state or territory to experience harmful levels of radioactivity or radiation resulting from the events in Japan. All travelers and air cargo is being screened through a variety of devices and systems, reducing the the risk of contamination. Aircraft and seaports are also being tested.
