Benefits are available for individuals with low income. Medicaid coverage is automatically given to individuals receiving certain other public assistance benefits, such as Supplemental Security Income (SSI) or Foster Care. Medicaid eligibility for aliens is based on whether the alien is a "qualified" alien. Non-qualified aliens are not eligible for full Medicaid benefits; they may qualify for Medicaid coverage of emergency medical services if they meet all other eligibility criteria.
Application processing times vary depending upon the program.
