The Glen Hills Area Sanitary Study is being conducted by the Department of Environmental Protection. The study will research current conditions of well and septic systems (on-site systems) in the community to evaluate their long-term sustainability. If this study finds that there are parts of the community where the long-term use of wells and septic system is not feasible, the study will then attempt to identify alternatives to existing well and septic service. Among these alternatives could be the use of well and septic system innovative technologies to extend the life of on-site service or the provision of public water and sewer service. The results of the study will be shared with the community and will be provided to the County Executive and County Council for policy guidance on how to address the community's future water supply and wastewater disposal issues.
For inquiries requiring the response of a DEP investigator, requestors will typically be contacted within 3 days although resolution of the issue may take longer depending on the circumstances of the case.
