Annual Rental Facility Occupancy Survey

The Department of Housing and Community Affairs, Licensing and Registration Unit, annually conducts a survey of all multi-family rental facilities in Montgomery County. The survey is conducted from April 1-30 each year and tracks vacancies, turnover rates, average rents, and amenities. Facilities located within Montgomery County's unincorporated areas as well as the municipalities of Rockville, Gaithersburg and Takoma Park participate in the survey. Vacancy and turnover rates are presented countywide and by market area.

Starting in 2017, landlords must have an AccessMCG account to access the Rental Survey. After registering with AccessMCG, survey participants go to the Licensing and Registration Program and login to their License Record. Once in the license records, two (2) Rental Survey Tabs (Survey, Facility and Survey, Units) contain the survey for all Multifamily Property Owners to complete.

Landlords without internet access can go to a public library to complete the survey or utilize a computer in the DHCA reception area. To request assistance in completing the survey, please call 240-777-0311.
