A Mobile Food Service Unit is a facility that moves as part of it's routine operation. Ex: Truck, Trailer, Vans or Carts with food is being sold to the public. The vehicle must first be inspected and licensed by the Health Department. Must meet health department regulations and standards. Food vendors must obtain a vendor's license from the Department of Permitting Services. The mobile unit must have a base of operation which is licensed by an approved authority. A private dwelling may not be used as a base of operation. A letter from the base of operation (a licensed food service facility) stating that the applicant has permission to use the facility for cleaning and storage is required. The mobile unit must be brought to 255 Rockville Pike, Rockville, MD 20850 for inspection and approval prior to operating. A licensed sticker will be attached to all approved and licensed mobile units. The license will be mailed to the applicant. Mobile Unit License Inspections are done 8 a.m. - 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. Parking is available on Truck Street, off Rockville Pike in Rockville. Personnel within the Licensure & Regulatory Services section are available to discuss questions during regular working hours (Monday through Friday) 8 AM to 4 PM.
