Food Stamps Program and How to Apply - Rockville
The Federal Food Supplement Program (formerly known as the Food Stamps Program) or SNAP, provides monthly benefits to eligible households to supplement their food budget. Eligibility is based upon household size, income and assets. Generally, U.S. citizenship is a requirement of the program. Non-citizens with "qualified immigrant" status may also meet eligibility requirements. A signed application and face-to-face interview is required in order to receive benefits which are issued via an Electronic Benefit System (EBT) card, to be used to purchase food in grocery stores and other approved locations. Applications can be picked up at your nearest HHS office, or application can be make online at the website below. For new customers going into the office with a completed application, they will be seen that day. There may be a wait to see a case worker. The Rockville Office is located at: 1301 Piccard Drive, Rockville, MD. 20850.
