School Based Health Wellness Centers

School-Based Health and Wellness Centers (SBHWC) operate at thirteen schools within Montgomery County. They are at nine elementary schools at JoAnn Leleck at Broad Acres; Harmony Hills; Summit Hall; Gaithersburg, New Hampshire Estates, Rolling Terrace, Highland, Weller Road and Viers Mill. There are four School Based Wellness Centers located at: Northwood High School, Gaithersburg HS, Wheaton HS and Watkins Mill HS. The centers provide comprehensive health services, including physicals, treatment for illness or injury, immunizations, laboratory work and medications; mental health services; social services; case management and health education.

Students and their families will not receive a bill for health services provided in the School Based Health and Wellness Centers. If your child has health care coverage that participates with Montgomery County the insurer may be billed for services provided to your child. All enrolled children will be seen regardless of insurance status. Students eligible for enrollment include students who attend the school; siblings of uninsured students enrolled in center that have been assigned to the School Based Health and Wellness sites and children enrolled in the County's Care for Kids Program who live in the zip code and are assigned to the SBHWC. In each case, parents must complete the enrollment packet, which includes written parental permission. Enrollment forms are available at the school-based health and wellness center in the school.
