Crisis Center therapists and counselors provide consultation, assessment and intervention for adults, adolescents and children. Services are available 24 hours a day, and may include telephone, walk-in, and mobile crisis response in the community. Individuals served may include, but are not limited to: individuals at risk for suicide/homicide, as demonstrated by suicidal/homicidal statements or behaviors; individuals experiencing depression, anxiety or other conditions who may be at future risk for suicide/homicide; family members, friends, and employers concerned about someone who may be at risk for suicide/homicide; children and adolescents referred by local schools after school personnel become aware of possible risk to self/others; survivors of individuals who have committed suicide; mental health professionals or other health care providers seeking professional consultation. Crisis Center staff will assess and intervene as indicated, attempting to engage the individual in treatment. Crisis Center therapists can issue an Emergency Evaluation Petition on behalf of a suicidal/homicidal person who is unwilling to go to a hospital, to ensure that the individual is evaluated. Other treatment options may include: psychiatric evaluation to consider whether medication is needed; referral to other treatment providers; admission to Residential Crisis Services (RCS) at the Crisis Center (RCS is for those with Medicaid only); or voluntary hospitalization.
