License Fees for Residential Rental Facilities

BY MAIL: THE LICENSE FEES MAY ONLY BE PAID BY CHECK OR MONEY ORDER MADE PAYABLE TO MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MARYLAND. CREDIT CARDS, DEBIT CARDS AND CASH ARE NOT ACCEPTED.

ONLINE: THE LICENSE FEES MAY BE PAID BY VISA, MASTER CARD, AMERICAN EXPRESS, DISCOVER, OR ECHECK.

Effective July 1, 2015 the fee schedule for Rental Licenses is as follows:

Class 1 Multifamily License = $41 per unit in apartment complex or accessory apartment approved by special exception & $59 per unit for others (Condominium Units and Piggy Back Townhomes) .

Class 2 Single Family License = $101 per unit.

Class 3 Accessory Apartment License $101 per unit.

Filing Fee = $250 of which $125 is refundable if Director finds it doesn't meet zoning requirements.

Sign Fee = $220 of which $110 is refundable if sign returned within 15 days at end of posting period & the sign is not damaged.

Lost Sign Fee = Additional $220.

Transfer Fee for Accessory Apartment = $250.

Bills are sent out July 1st and contain the customer's Contact ID (if needed) and License or Registration Number along with the fee that is due.

Refund requests must be submitted in writing within 90 days of payment with proof of payment from bank to DHCA's Licensing and Registration Office, 1401 Rockville Pike, 4th Floor, Rockville, MD 20852.
