Massage Establishment and Massage Waiver Requirements

A license is not required if all employees giving massages in the establishment are currently licensed Maryland State massage therapists. The owner must obtain a Montgomery County Waiver annually through Public Health Services, Licensure and Regulatory Office, and all massage employees must possess a valid Montgomery County Massage Therapist ID. Should an establishment not have Maryland State Licensed therapists, the owner or partnership would need to obtain an annual license for a Massage Establishment. This would include submittal of a completed application, criminal background check and fingerprints.
