Ride On Kids Ride Free Program
The Kids Ride Free program for Montgomery County residents has been reinstated effective July 1, 2011. Students will be allowed to ride any Ride On bus and most Metrobus routes within Montgomery County without paying a fare from 2 PM until 8 PM Monday- Friday year-round. The student must show the bus operator either a valid County private or public school ID OR the Kids Ride Free ID issued by Ride On or the Youth Cruiser Smart Trip Card. Elementary students do not need an ID. Those without IDs should contact their school.

Students cannot ride free during their morning trip to school and if they want to take Ride On, should be encouraged to buy a Monthly Youth Cruiser pass for unlimited rides on Ride On for only $11 per month or $18 for the entire summer. The Monthly Cruiser can be purchased by mail, online, or at the Treasury Office located at 255 Rockville Pike, Suite L-15, Rockville, MD. They can also be purchased at the TRiPs stores located at 8413 Ramsey Avenue, Silver Spring and 17 Wisconsin Circle, Friendship Heights or at certain schools.

Students riding Route 70 Express buses will need to pay an upcharge of $2.25 in cash.
