A private educational institution (PEI) is any private school or educational or training institution, however designated, which offers a program of college, professional, preparatory, high, intermediate, elementary, kindergarten or nursery school instruction, or any combination thereof, or any other program of trade, technical or artistic training. Any person desiring to operate a PEI in Montgomery County for (5) five or more students at one time, or with more than one Instructor, must obtain a license. A license must be obtained prior to operating the PEI.* NEW AND RENEWING APPLICANTS NEED TO: Complete Application; Submit a copy of their Use and Occupancy Permit and the Fire Marshall Approval; and Pay License Fee. You may also apply at 255 Rockville Pike, 1st Floor, Suite 100, Rockville, MD 20850 between the hours of 8 AM and 4 PM Monday through Friday. Any questions please send a service request. It takes about 30 days to issue a license.
