Mainstream Companion and Therapeutic Recreation Camp Assistant

Mainstream Companion must be 14 years old by the start of the program. Experience the satisfaction of helping children with disabilities gain the most from their summer. Help one child in a general recreation setting to integrate into one of the summer programs. Mainstream Companions must complete the mandatory Counselor In Training (CIT) leadership training which focuses on leadership skills, conflict resolution, communication skills and provides an overview of the summer experience and the expectations for CITs. Mainstream Companions must attend one or two additional training activities depending on the placement. This information is listed in the Montgomery County Summer Camps and Programs guide.
