Budget Questions for Specific Departments - Operating Budget Tax Receipts
The Office of Management and Budget (OMB) posts copies of the budget on the website listed below. The Recommended and Approved Operating and CIP budget books are available for reference in the Montgomery County Public Library branches. Tax receipts go into the General Fund. They are not allocated upon receipt to any one department or program. The allocation of resources, including property, income, transfer and recordation, and excise taxes, plus service fee/charges, fines, licenses, investment income etc. are used to fund the operating budget and the current revenue funded projects or portions of projects in the Capital Improvement Program. In addition, the first legal claim on all resources is to pay debt service.
